Tommy Descartes
Economist
Tommy Descartes is an Economist with the Caribbean Development Bank, where he is assigned to Jamaica and Barbados as the Bank’s Country Economist. Beyond his country macroeconomic surveillance work, he has a keen interest in several other areas including, trade, tourism, and labour economics.
Tommy holds a MSc in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom and a BSc in Economic and Management from the University of the West Indies. Prior to joining the Bank, he was Chief Economist in the Department of Economic Planning in Saint Lucia and Deputy Director for Social Research in the Ministry of Equity. Tommy is an avid hiker and tennis enthusiast.
